22-year-old Phillip Letoaba known as Pretty Ray is the proud and energetic Host of Sunday Kos With Mamfundisi, brought on screens by Ambitiouz Planet Tv on SowetoTV Channel 251 every Sunday, as he today shares the experience.
WHO IS PHILLIP LETOABA?
Phillip Letoaba is a South African actor, TV presenter, musical artist, recording producer, event coordinator, graphic designer, music video director and a movie writer better known by his musical stage name, Pretty Ray from the rural of GaMashashane, bred in urban Soshanguve jukulyn.
His music journey started as young as he was 10 years old in 2011 as a Gospel backing vocalist and performing dancer for Hosia Masebe. Many would say the young man is following his father’s footsteps musically, Lion Gwangwa is known for his powerful voice and soul healing Gospel tunes respectively.
In 2016, Ray jumped into the studio for the first time to record his first hit song ” Painkiller”. He later released another hit song featuring Black D entitled Amalobolo, still indulging in the sound and message of the love song, He gave us 2020 hit Ngiyasfela featuring the “Umangidakiwe” hitmaker, Leon Lee. The song Ngiyasfela was well-received and it went viral to even hit the doors to getting chosen as the soundtrack of a TV show named Engaphakathi on channel 260 Mpumalanga Tv.
In 2021, he released four hits namely MANABA, MABIRI, HAPPINESS, and MMINO WA LIMPOPO, and recently dopped on his social media pages that he will be releasing another hit entitled Mama dedicated to all mothers that are never tired to take good care of their children, not to mention the sacrifices they make, on the 29th of January produced by MayMuzzique Nomaziyane. The unreleased song had lots of people vibing and hyping for it. One social media user commented, ” I can’t wait for this one. It is a hit”.
Pretty Ray won the 3rd Position in Mashashane’s Got Talent 2021 after his breathtaking performance.
On his acting journey, he worked with creature films on a short film named Mama.
HIS MOTIVATIONS AND ASPIRATIONS.
“People around me, their support, their comments towards my work is what keeps me motivated. I would fall but it is always my fans that gets me to get up and continue.
It has always been people around me that lifted me from just having a dream to making it come true. You have to crawl before standing up on your feet”.
EXPERIENCE.
“Working with Ambitiouz Planet Tv and Sunday Kos with Mamfundisi team and crew, is a blessing and a continuous tremendously good experience for me.I find the safest space where I can be myself to deliver a lot of things in one show that a lot of people are never yet aware of in life”.
CHALLENGES.
“Not everyone will love what you do. They always criticize my work with lots of ‘WHYS’ hence I gotta bring out my best-presenting skills because they somehow motivate me to do better and refuse to fail”.
Furthermore, Pretty Ray says that people are failing to differentiate between his private life and TV life. They think what they see on Tv is what his private life is like. ” “Bare ke ba tima dijo. Every Sunday ge ba mpona ba nyaka dijo.” He laughs.
WHAT TO EXPECT OF PRETTY RAY IN FUTURE.
“More music. More shows one been my own TV show that is underway-Kasi Yaka. The show will be dealing with talent, businesses and a lot more. I’ll also be vlogging events (event coverage) mainly to motivate, inspire and create a safe space for passionate people to come showcase their talents and hustles. The rest, is the best that is yet to come”.
