People’s DJ, Zer015DJ Making Waves.

Marcello Maraba is a force to be reckoned with in the world of music. He has made a name for himself, making people happy, behind the DJ booth. He throws some elegant and sophisticated events in his hometown, his name has an influence over the region. Marcello’s unique style and energetic performances have made him a favorite among music lovers, and he shows no signs of slowing down.

Marcello is a Disc jockey from ga-Mashashane Moshate, better known as Zer015DJ. He is known for his vibrant tunes behind the DJ booth and breath-taking event organising skills. He is the mastermind behind the anticipated and well-received, Zer015DJ One Man Show get-together. He started his DJing journey at a very young age, alongside his best friend, Trigger hitmaker- Lebza Lebzito Legodi.

Marcello has a carefree childhood that involved playing on the streets and sharing Kotas bought from a local tuck shop with friends. Today Marcello is one of Polokwane’s most prominent DJ. Growing up he was exposed to different types of music. At home, his family listened to Gospel music while at taxi ranks and tuck shops he heard kwaito and traditional music.

The cue and play master says he has been inspired by a wide range of artists and genres. From the afro tech, old school and amapiano sounds to hip-hop. The DJ has drawn inspiration from a diverse array of artists,genres and styles. He says he also take inspiration from the local music scene, which is full of creative and innovative artists.

This young man’s path to becoming a successful DJ wasn’t always easy. He says he faced challenges and setbacks along the way, but his passion for music kept him going. He started out playing small gigs and local events, and slowly but surely, his popularity began to grow. With hard work and dedication, he was able to turn his passion into a career, been a resident at many of Mashashane’s hip and happening events.

Zer015DJ’s music has had a profound effect on the local music scene. The two were a duo back in the days.”As we walked the streets of Shosanguve, we came across a poster plugged on the wall, hours before the competition. We wanted a challenge. Unprepared, we set the hall on fire and won”. Said the DJ. He also won Battle of the DJs 2018 at Europa in Pretoria, and Battle of the DJs 2023 at The Venue in Seshego township, and being a resident DJ at several of the most prestigious clubs and venues in the country including The Hospot and The Venue. His style is unique and captivating, and he has gained a loyal following of fans who can’t get enough of his music. With his talent, hard work, and dedication, Zer015DJ is sure to continue making waves in the music industry for years to come.

Zer015’s productions are on to become anthems for the local music scene, and his catchy beats and danceable rhythms will have people of all ages moving. Credited for his best photography skills, capturing prestigious photos with unmeasurable quality that has people talking, the 29-year-old Kgothatso Shadung better known as Shimi was and raised in the gritty streets of Mashashane Sebora, several kilometres away from the Polokwane CBD. Shimi has been a photographer for a good 5years.

For Shimi, becoming the talk of the town Photographer was not a rushed decision. He says he only bought his camera for personal use, not knowing that it was actually a blessing in disguise, unfolding a talent he never thought he had. He adored taking pictures of the unthinkable, and those of the sunset view, flowers in spring and his dogs that are very close to his heart. Shimi says he grew in love with photography whilst in it, and he found pleasure.

TEEBK-FLESH THE POET DOING THINGS DIFFERENTLY.

Tibiki ‘TeeBK’ Mokonyane is a Provincial Poet representing Limpopo. She is recognized for her unique style and thought-provoking work. Her work is known for it’s beauty, it’s emotion, and it’s ability to make readers and listeners think and feel. Her poems have been called ‘hauntingly beautiful’ and ‘stirringly emotional,’ and she’s been praised for her skillful use of language and imagery. But it’s not just her words that make her stand out – it’s her unique perspective and her ability to make readers see the world in a new light.

15-year-old TeeBK was born and raised in Mashashane Segoahleng outside Polokwane. She often use vivid descriptions and metaphors to create a sense of wonder and magic. Her poems are full of evocative phrases and striking images, which transport the reader to another world. The poet’s style has been described as lyrical and dreamlike.

TeeBK says she fell deeply in love with poetry at age of 9, doing her grade 4 in 2017. She was greatly inspired by the 2012 South Africa’s Got Talent Winner Bohlale Boikanyo who is also an actress. “I realized my ability to write and recite poems when I first felt the joy and satisfaction that comes from creating something beautiful with words. I found that poetry is a powerful way to express myself, and it’s something that I truly enjoy.

The poet shared that their work was also influenced by Mzwakhe The Poet and Mr Matalane. These writers’ influence is evident in the poet’s early works. For example, Mzwakhe The Poet’s influence can be seen in Tibiki’s first collection, which she wrote when she was only 11 years old. In this collection, she explored similar themes and used similar imagery to Mzwakhe The Poet. This shows how influential this writer is in shaping TeeBK’s style and subject matter.

The award-winning poet tells the Reddot that in all her poems, tittled Gender Based Violence remains one of her best work. She says the poem aims to raise awareness and to empower survivors. In her own words, she said: “I want to teach people that it is never the victim’s fault, and that there is hope and healing. I also want to encourage people to speak out, end GBV, and work towards a world where everyone is safe and respected”. This poem is a contribution towards this goal and has scored her 1 of 2 of her awards.


Tibiki is a young energetic,responsible, reliable and trustworthy person. Hence she has been elected as the President of the LRC 2024 at her school, Boetse Secondary in Moletjie Mabokelele. She says been the LRC President is both rewarding and challenging. “It’s rewarding because I get to make a difference in my school and help other learners discover their love for writting and reading. It is challenging because it requires a lot of hard work and dedication. But overall, it’s an incredibly fulfilling experience”. As she continued, she said it was inspiring and humbling. “There’s nothing as heartwarming as seeing the joy on a student’s face when they discover the power of words”. She said.

“My wish is to continue writing and sharing my work with others, use my poetry to inspire and uplift young people, make a positive impact in my community. I want to grow, explore and experiment new forms and styles. Ultimately, I just want to keep doing what I love. I’m excited for what this journey has in store for me. TeeBK is the Award-winning Talent Search Auditions Poet 2023 and Mashashane’s Got Talent 2nd Position that was held at Mashfun Park in 2021, and has been interviewed at Moletjie FM the previous year.

The bubbly Poet says she’s proud of the impact her poems have on others. “I’ve had people telling me that my poetry has helped them through difficult times, and inspired them to pursue their own creative passions. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that my words have made a difference in someone’s life. I’m greatful for the recognition I receive for my work, including awards and publications. But ultimately, it’s the impact on others that makes my heart skip a beat”. She nodded.

Mokonyane says her Mother has been her biggest supporter and my greatest inspiration. She has encouraged her to follow her passion and has been there since day 1. “She has taught me so much about life, and I am forever greatful. To Her, my family, friends, teachers and followers”.

DJ AND RADIO PRESENTER, KGAUGELO ‘MISS K’ MOLOTO.

It started with a simple love for music. But for Kgaugelo Moloto, that passion eventually led to a career in the music industry, spinning records for thousands of adoring fans. Kgaugelo Moloto fell in love with the sound of Afrotech and CDJs after sitting in for some female DJ’s set that was a regular at House 22 Pretoria, in 2010. There and then, Kgaugelo knew she wanted to be a DJ.

Kgaugelo Moloto is a Polokwane; Ladanna aspiring Disk Jockey and Radio Presenter, popularly known as Miss K. Kgaugelo started her DJing career in January 2021, has worked alongside DJ Calypso Wa Polokwane and other DJs to sharpen her skills. “Little did I know that my passion would one day take me from the dance floor to the sound booth, bringing joy and excitement to those who listens to my sets.

Around 2010, Kgaugelo tried to register at Fuse Academy with no success. Fuse Academy was then owned by the Umlilo hitmaker, DJ Zinhle that Miss K realy looks up to, and today closed. That time, all Miss K wanted was to jump behind the DJ booth and make people merry. The unsuccessful application got her drained and frustrated, but she never gave up.

In 2016 Kgaugelo decided to go back to school. “l wanted to go for DJing lessons at Soul Candy’s school of DJing, which my Mom refused to pay the required fees. Not because she didn’t believe in my dreams. It was merely because she didn’t believe in music as a stable career, instead she and I opted for a Beauty course”. Kgaogelo is a professional Beauty Therapiest, she has a Diploma in IT Networking, she is a qualified Teacher, and the proud founder of MKG Development and Projects Company that was established in 2013.

Kgaugelo is a motivated, enthusiastic and a hardworking person. She currently works as the energetic Event Coordinator, Journalist and ‘The Mix’ host at the Gateway FM in Polokwane, after she has worked for Heita FM for few months before her break at the Gateway in 2022. Miss K is a former resident of Ngobs Chisanyama from 2021-2022 in Nobody, now closed down. She is currently at Gamblers resident in Polokwane CBD since 2023.

Miss K tells us she has played live at Mughana Loneni FM and Phalaphala FM, and her mixtape was played at Thobela FM. She has shared stage with the likes of Master KG and Mr Brown. She would love to work with Lamiez Holworthy, DJ Zinhle, Da Capo, Cairo and Black Coffee, to name a few. “I have pushed hard for gigs. It might be once a month where I don’t get bookings, especially when I have personal errands that cannot be compromised”. When Miss K is not on radio, behind the DJ booth or swamped in a lot of MKG paperwork, she says she enjoys going out on solo dates, reading and travelling, which helps her recharge before going back to reality.

After a long tiring weekend of back-to-back gigs, Miss K says she enjoys dinning on some Kasi meals from different spots in Polokwane. “It’s never the perfect end of the weekend without the taste of Pap, Wors, Steak, Fish and Chakalaka, sprinkled with some peri-peri. These gets me refreshened and ready to kickstart the new week” Said Miss K.

SPINNING PLATES AND VINYLS:The story of a musical Chef.

When you think of a DJ, you probably think of someone behind the decks at a nightclub, pumping out beats for the crowd to dance to. But what is been a DJ to Ronald Movundlela ?

32-year-old Ronald Movundlela, popularly known as DJ Chopper Choppsticks says that to him, being a DJ is about much more than just playing music. It’s about creating a connection with the crowd, bringing people together through music, taking people on a journey, transporting them to another world with the power of sound. It’s about making people feel alive, energized, and free. 

Ronald was born and bred in the gritty streets of Ga-Ledwaba Zebediela in Limpopo Province. It’s not unusual for DJs to have diverse interests outside of music. For DJ Chopper, their other passion is food. From a young age, they were drawn to the kitchen and loved experimenting with different flavors and techniques. As he grew older, this passion developed into a career, and DJ Chopper became a profesaional Chef. But even as he rose to the top of his field in the culinary world, he never forgot his love for music. In fact, he often say that being a DJ is like been a cook. You mix all the spices to make people enjoy and be merry.

Movundlela as a DJ, started with a passion for music and a desire to share that passion with others. He first discovered his love for music after food, and he left his job for music, when he started listening to DJs like Black Coffee, following Kalawa Jazzme, and Snekeneke Pre-Festive games. He was drawn to the way a DJ could take a crowd on a journey, using sound to create a shared experience. DJ Chopper soon began to experiment with DJing himself, and it wasn’t long before he was hooked.

“My late friend, Khomotso Sketchtone Mathopa forced me to buy CDJs. I guess he saw something I couldn’t see in myself. I was lucky to have him and Chavi Chase, who taught me how to actually use them”. Said DJ Chopper.

The cue master also has breath-taking organising skills and manages 2 amongst other well-received events in his area, Annual Choppsticks Birthday Celebration and Annual Milky Tee’s Birthday Celebration at Choppeng Lifestyle Ga-Ledwaba.

During weekdays, DJ Chopper does scholar transport. He is a proud part of Kalahari Boys, they have events equipment for hire, sound and stage to be specific .He is also an assistant coach of a local soccer team, Ledwaba Young Stars. “In the near future, I would love to see my Choppeng Lifestyle operating 24/7; 365 days, offering a plenty of services and hosting some of the biggest concerts in the Province.

“Start where you are, use what you have and do what you can”.

ONE DJ’S JOURNEY TO THE TOP: Martin Phihlela.

The bass was pounding, the crowd was jumping and the energy was electric. But for Martin Phihlela, was not just about music. It was about the experience of bringing people together through the power of sound. Martin had always loved music, but it wasn’t until he stepped behind the DJ booth that he truly understood the magic of a live performance. From that moment on, he was hooked.


Martin is a Disk Jockey who is well-known for his vibrant tunes behind decks and breath-taking organising skills. He was born and raised in the gritty streets of Chebeng, a township that lays on the road that divides Moletjie and Mashashane Pax, dubbed Matlala road, just outside the Polokwane CBD in Limpopo. Popularly known as DJy Abitersoul does not stop there, but also does an amazing job as the proud and energetic event coordinator of Makweya Bar Loudge ,one listed classic entertainment spot in Makweya, Moletjie.

DJy Abitersoul tells us that he has been a DJ for a beautiful 15 years. 15years of sweat, lessons, and an amazing 6years of bringing people together through the power of music as an event organiser, and his greatest inspiration is Black Coffee amongst other legends. “My passion for music kept me going and the will to succeed in this industry has been my pillow ever since, and I refused to give up when times toughen up”. says Abitersoul.

Some of DJy Abitersoul’s highlights is getting to share a stage with artists and DJs he has always been looking up to, hosted the best in the industry, and excelled when people around him underestimated and overlooked him as an local event organiser. It seems like Phihlela has had a lot of challenges in the industry and has learned from them and came out even more stronger.

In the next years, Abitersoul dreams of opening his own music engineering schools and share his experiences, knowledge about one of his favourate activities with young, passionate adults who wish to follow his footsteps and follow their passion. ” Many people view this industry as a quick buck making scheme whilst the truth been that, it takes consistency, dedication and passion of all to execute your dream of been into the entertsinment industry and win.

When DJy Abitersoul is off decks, not organising nor promoting after a long busy weekend, he says he enjoys Bra Eddie’s Pap and ‘Skopo’ sprinkled with some peri peri to reduce hangover.

We all start somewhere, Abitersoul is yet to take the Industry by storm despite the challenges he comes across on a daily basis.
