IEC VOTERS REGISTRATION WEEKEND.

In South Africa, black people got the right to vote in 1994, after the end of apartheid. Prior to that, the apartheid regime had placed many restrictions on who could vote, and only white people were allowed to vote in general elections. In 1994, South Africa held it’s first democratic elections, in which everyone over the age of 18 was allowed to vote, regardless of their race. This was a historic moment in South African history and represented a significant change in the political landscape. 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of this momentous change.

Voting is a fundamental right, and it’s also an important responsibility. The IEC voter registrations are a road to the chance for people to have their voices heard and to make a difference in their communities. Every vote counts, and every person’s vote is valuable. By taking the time to register to vote, people can help to shape the future of their nation, and even if the candidate you going to vote for doesn’t win, you’ve still exercised your right to participate in the democratic process.

In South Africa, there are currently over 40 registered political parties, and more may be added by the time of the 2024 elections. However, there are a few major political parties that are expected to compete in the elections, including the African National Congress (ANC), the Democratic Alliance (DA), and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). There are also a number of smaller, regional parties that will be competing in the elections.

As of now, the official number of registered voters in South Africa for the 2024 elections is not yet known. However, based on previous elections, it is estimated that there will be around 26 million registered voters in 2024. This number is expected to increase as more people become eligible to vote and register in the lead-up to the elections.

The exact number of voting stations for the 2024 elections has not yet been announced by the IEC. However, in previous elections, there have been around 22,000 stations in South Africa. These stations are distributed throughout the country, with a focus on making them accessible to all voters. The IEC also provides mobile voting stations for people living in remote areas.

To find a voting station in your area, visit the Independent Electoral Commission’s website or call their hotline. You will need to enter your address or the name of your municipality to find a list of stations. The list will include the name and address of the station, as well as the voting district number and ward number. You can also register to vote online, and find a map of the voting districts on the IEC’s website or register to vote in person this weekend, 03rd-4th February at your nearest voting station, 8am-5pm.

There are a few documents that are required in order to register to vote. These include a valid South African identity document (ID), passport, or temporary ID certificate.

“Your democracy, own it!”

NEW WATER BRAND ON THE SOUTH AFRICAN MARKET: Keneilwe Still Water.

‘Keneilwe’ is a South African name that means “be blessed.” It is often considered to be a name that brings good luck and fortune. Keneilwe Still Water is the newly branded water in the South African market.

Keneilwe Still Water is the brainchild of Mashashane born and bred Disk Jockey, a proud Mother, and CEO of House of AJ, Lerato AJ Lee Legodi. Keneilwe is a relatively common name in South Africa, and often shortened to “Kene”. But for enterprenuer DJ AJ Lee, it represents something more. “I wanted to create a product that would bring life to people in the form of pure, healthy water, in the name of my new born, Keneilwe Legodi. When I first came up with my daughter’s name, I felt like it was a sign from the universe that I was on the right track.” says AJ.

AJ says that she chose still water because many water brands go for mineral. As for sparkling, it has it’s own people, that is not my target market. So I wanted a different taste that I can dub after my daughter Keneilwe, and make perfect sense. I have been through a lot in my life. Keneilwe Still Water makes me feel very much ‘Blessed’ by the Lord and ancestors .

Keneilwe Still Water is a great source of hydration and has many health benefits. It can help with digestion, regulate body temperature, and maintain good skin care. Additionally, it is known to be beneficial for helping to keep it hydrated and healthy. It is also low on calories, making it a great choice for people who are trying to watch their weight. Overall, it is simple but important part of a healthy lifestyle.

There are many ways to make Keneilwe Still Water even more appealing. “Some people enjoy adding lemon, cucumber, or mint to their water, as these ingredients can add flavour and nutrition to the water “. Said AJ. Other options include adding berries, ginger or other fruits and herbs, also don’t forget the importance of drinking out of a clean, attractive glass or the original Keneilwe Still Water brand bottles.

The 31-year-old Cue Queen has big plans for their new water brand, Keneilwe Still Water. She says she’s looking to create a brand that is not only refreshing and delicious, but also promotes health and wellness. In addition to the water itself, she plans to create a line of Keneilwe branded products. They also have plans to partner with charities and organizations that promote healthy living and sustainability. And of course, they will be sharing their journey on their social media platforms.

What sets Keneilwe Still Water apart from other brands is it’s unique and refreshing taste. The water has a subtle, crisp taste that is perfect for quenching thirst. People who has already tried Keneilwe Still Water says that it has a distinct and memorable flavour that sets it apart from other brands. So, if you’re looking for water that will please your taste buds, Keneilwe Water is the perfect choice.

DJ AND RADIO PRESENTER, KGAUGELO ‘MISS K’ MOLOTO.

It started with a simple love for music. But for Kgaugelo Moloto, that passion eventually led to a career in the music industry, spinning records for thousands of adoring fans. Kgaugelo Moloto fell in love with the sound of Afrotech and CDJs after sitting in for some female DJ’s set that was a regular at House 22 Pretoria, in 2010. There and then, Kgaugelo knew she wanted to be a DJ.

Kgaugelo Moloto is a Polokwane; Ladanna aspiring Disk Jockey and Radio Presenter, popularly known as Miss K. Kgaugelo started her DJing career in January 2021, has worked alongside DJ Calypso Wa Polokwane and other DJs to sharpen her skills. “Little did I know that my passion would one day take me from the dance floor to the sound booth, bringing joy and excitement to those who listens to my sets.

Around 2010, Kgaugelo tried to register at Fuse Academy with no success. Fuse Academy was then owned by the Umlilo hitmaker, DJ Zinhle that Miss K realy looks up to, and today closed. That time, all Miss K wanted was to jump behind the DJ booth and make people merry. The unsuccessful application got her drained and frustrated, but she never gave up.

In 2016 Kgaugelo decided to go back to school. “l wanted to go for DJing lessons at Soul Candy’s school of DJing, which my Mom refused to pay the required fees. Not because she didn’t believe in my dreams. It was merely because she didn’t believe in music as a stable career, instead she and I opted for a Beauty course”. Kgaogelo is a professional Beauty Therapiest, she has a Diploma in IT Networking, she is a qualified Teacher, and the proud founder of MKG Development and Projects Company that was established in 2013.

Kgaugelo is a motivated, enthusiastic and a hardworking person. She would love to work with Lamiez Holworthy, DJ Zinhle, Da Capo, Cairo and Black Coffee, to name a few. “I have pushed hard for gigs. It might be once a month where I don’t get bookings, especially when I have personal errands that cannot be compromised”. When Miss K is not on radio, behind the DJ booth or swamped in a lot of MKG paperwork, she says she enjoys going out on solo dates, reading and travelling, which helps her recharge before going back to reality.

After a long tiring weekend of back-to-back gigs, Miss K says she enjoys dinning on some Kasi meals from different spots in Polokwane. “It’s never the perfect end of the weekend without the taste of Pap, Wors, Steak, Fish and Chakalaka, sprinkled with some peri-peri. SPINNING PLATES AND VINYLS:The story of a musical Chef.

When you think of a DJ, you probably think of someone behind the decks at a nightclub, pumping out beats for the crowd to dance to. But what is been a DJ to Ronald Movundlela ?

32-year-old Ronald Movundlela, popularly known as DJ Chopper Choppsticks says that to him, being a DJ is about much more than just playing music. It’s about creating a connection with the crowd, bringing people together through music, taking people on a journey, transporting them to another world with the power of sound. It’s about making people feel alive, energized, and free.

Ronald was born and bred in the gritty streets of Ga-Ledwaba Zebediela in Limpopo Province. It’s not unusual for DJs to have diverse interests outside of music. For DJ Chopper, their other passion is food. From a young age, they were drawn to the kitchen and loved experimenting with different flavors and techniques. As he grew older, this passion developed into a career, and DJ Chopper became a profesaional Chef. But even as he rose to the top of his field in the culinary world, he never forgot his love for music. In fact, he often say that being a DJ is like been a cook. You mix all the spices to make people enjoy and be merry.

Movundlela as a DJ, started with a passion for music and a desire to share that passion with others. He first discovered his love for music after food, and he left his job for music, when he started listening to DJs like Black Coffee, following Kalawa Jazzme, and Snekeneke Pre-Festive games. He was drawn to the way a DJ could take a crowd on a journey, using sound to create a shared experience. DJ Chopper soon began to experiment with DJing himself, and it wasn’t long before he was hooked.

“My late friend, Khomotso Sketchtone Mathopa forced me to buy CDJs. I guess he saw something I couldn’t see in myself. I was lucky to have him and Chavi Chase, who taught me how to actually use them”. Said DJ Chopper.

The cue master also has breath-taking organising skills and manages 2 amongst other well-received events in his area, Annual Choppsticks Birthday Celebration and Annual Milky Tee’s Birthday Celebration at Choppeng Lifestyle Ga-Ledwaba.

During weekdays, DJ Chopper does scholar transport. THE PSYCHOLOGY OF SPENDING AND SAVING.

“Do not save what is left after spending, but spend what is left after saving”.

When it comes to our relationship with money, emotions often play a bigger role than we realize. Whether we’re making purchases out of impulse, fear, or a need for validation, our emotional state can have a big impact on our financial decisions. In fact, research has shown that when we’re feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed, we’re more likely to make impulsive spending decisions. On the other hand, when we’re feeling secure, confident, and optimistic, we’re more likely to make rational, well-thought-out decisions. Understanding the psychology of spending and spending

One of the most common emotional triggers for overspending is stress. When we’re feeling overwhelmed or anxious, we may turn to retail therapy as a way to cope. Spending money can give us a temporary sense of relief, but it can also lead to feelings of guilt and regret. Another common emotional trigger is fear. When we’re afraid of missing out on a deal or running out of money, we may make impulsive, impulse-driven decisions. It’s important to be aware of these emotional triggers and how they can affect our financial choices.

Social media and advertising play a significant role in influencing our spending habits. Seeing images of people with the latest gadgets, cars, or vacation destinations can make us feel like we need to keep up with the Joneses. And when we see ads that say things like “limited time only” or “buy now, pay later,” our fear of missing out can cause us to make decisions that aren’t in our best financial interest. These types of messages can create a sense of urgency and pressure.

The sunk cost fallacy is the idea that we continue to invest time, money, or energy into something even when it’s no longer serving us, simply because we’ve already invested so much. This fallacy can lead us to continue making purchases even when we know they’re not a good use of our money. For example, we may buy a gym membership and keep paying for it even though we’re not using it, simply because we’ve already paid for it.

Financial literacy is one of the most important tools we have for taking control of our financial future. When we understand concepts like budgeting, saving, and investing, we’re able to make more informed decisions about how we spend and save our money. And when we understand how things like interest rates, taxes, and inflation work, we can make more effective financial choices. It’s never too late to learn more about money management, and there are plenty of resources available to help.

A 43-year-old Makgabo Letoalo says that he blew his RAF payment in 2022 that was over R4000000.00 and was left with nothing to show, including his Rivian R1T that was beyond repair after he was involved in an accident after a rough night at groove where he had spent over R3000.00 with his girlfriend. ” I was left traumatised and depressed. My girlfriend left me for someone else. I wish someone had guided me and taught me about spending, saving and investing”. Said Makgabo

Education is a powerful tool that can help us change our lives for the better. By learning new things and expanding our horizons, we can open up new opportunities and discover new passions. No matter our age or background, it’s never too late to invest in our education and reach for our goals. Let’s remember that learning and growth are lifelong processes, and education is a gift that keeps on giving.

BENEFITS OF DRINKING WATER REGULARLY.

Drinking water has been shown to improve concentration, energy levels, and even skin health. It can also aid in weight loss, digestion, and circulation. And perhaps most importantly, it helps to keep the body hydrated and functioning properly.

Drinking water has been shown to improve cognitive function and concentration. Studies have found that even mild dehydration can negatively impact brain function, so it’s important to stay hydrated throughout the day. Drinking water can also help to boost energy levels and reduce fatigue. Water also plays a role in keeping skin healthy and hydrated. Skin that is well-hydrated appears plumper and smoother, and it can even help to reduce wrinkles.

The next benefit is digestion. Drinking water aids in digestion by helping to break down food and absorb nutrients. It also helps to prevent constipation and other digestive issues. Additionally, staying hydrated can help to reduce bloating and water retention. The circulatory system also benefits from drinking water. Water helps to regulate body temperature and keep blood pressure at a healthy level. It also helps to transport nutrients and oxygen throughout the body.

Another benefit of drinking water is that it can help to boost metabolism and aid in weight loss. Studies have shown that people who drink more water are more likely to lose weight and keep it off. Water helps to fill you up and reduce the number of calories consumed. It also helps to burn calories by increasing metabolism. Drinking water can also help to reduce appetite and cravings.

Some tips for staying hydrated throughout the day is carrying a reusable water bottle with you wherever you go. This makes it easy to stay hydrated, even when you’re on the go. You can also try to drink a glass of water first thing in the morning and before each meal.  Add some flavor to your water by infusing it with fruits, herbs, or vegetables.

In addition to drinking enough water, it’s also important to eat foods that are high in water content. These include fruits and vegetables like watermelon, strawberries, cucumbers, lettuce, and tomatoes. You can also eat soup or broth-based dishes to help you meet your daily water needs. Eating hydrating foods can help to keep you feeling full and satisfied throughout the day.

Drinking water and eating hydrating foods, are few other lifestyle changes you can make to improve your hydration. First, avoid excessive alcohol consumption, as it can lead to dehydration. Second, try to limit your caffeine intake, as it can have a diuretic effect. Finally, avoid spending too much time in the sun, as this can cause you to lose water through sweat.

Drinking enough water is essential for optimal health. Not only does it help to keep you hydrated, but it can also improve your digestion, energy levels, and mood.

A person should drink water that amounts to 2litres a day or more.
